With the development of the Yuegangao Taizhou District (Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Economic Zone), more and more young people are migrating from Hong Kong to cities in mainland China to work. Pan Zifeng is one of them. He shared how Yuegangao Greater Guang could benefit his career and Hong Kong.

[판쯔펑, 홍콩 청년] “I’m Pan Zifeng from Hong Kong. I joined the Chinese tech giant Tencent Yuegangao in August last year as a manager of the Taiwan District Public Affairs Department.

In February 2019, when the blueprint for the Yuegangao Greater Area Development Plan was released, we knew that Weegangao Greater Area was a land of opportunity.

On weekends, I often went from Hong Kong to Shenzhen to play. Thanks to this, we were able to witness the development of Shenzhen. I was amazed by Shenzhen’s rapid development and the sheer number of large corporations. I gradually realized that one day I would join a large company in Shenzhen, which would help me develop my career.

Then, in the year I graduated from university, the ‘Yegangao Taizhou Youth Employment Plan’ started. The plan will allow mainland Chinese companies to hire students who have just graduated from the University of Hong Kong. Hong Kong graduates have had the opportunity to work in Shenzhen or other cities in Yuegangao Taizhou District.

Ever since I came to Shenzhen for work, I have felt a strong sense of belonging to get along and hang out with all my friends here, and to understand and contribute to the development of Yuegangao Taizhou District.

My strong point of being fluent in English is that it can be helpful to my colleagues, and their better communication skills are also worth learning from me. So, if we study hard and interact more with each other, we can get the job done better.

This year marks the 25th anniversary of the return of Hong Kong to the motherland. We believe that the link between Hong Kong and mainland China will become closer and more integrated in the future. If Hong Kong young people try to learn more about the mainland city, it will definitely be of great help to Hong Kong’s socio-economic development.”
