[우주를 보다] Are you doing well?… Mars Helicopter Injury captured by satellite

NASA’s Perseverance and small helicopter Ingenuity, which are searching for traces of ancient life on Mars, were captured by satellites from afar. Recently, NASA released pictures of the two creatures taken by the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter (MRO), which is currently orbiting Mars.

Captured with MRO’s high-resolution camera HiRISE on February 26, Perseverance appears to be a small, shiny, square dot. It’s a bit of a disappointment because it’s not clear, but it’s amazing technology considering that it was shot in orbit with the size of a small car in Mars orbit. In particular, this time, MRO drew attention by including the small helicopter Injury.

Injury, which appears only as a smaller dot, is in fact indistinguishable unless otherwise explained. This is because the body of Insanity is as small as a tissue box, so it is much more difficult to shoot than Perseverance. As a result, the MRO is looking down on the Perseverance and Insanity while they are on a mission on distant Mars as if they were watching from the sky.

Prior to this, the MRO also found and captured the appearance of China’s first Mars probe ‘Kowloon’. Kowloon, taken by the MRO on the 11th of last month, also looks like a small dot, but the wheel marks around it are clear as if to prove the mission accomplished. It seems to symbolize the United States monitoring China on Mars, but it is interpreted as part of a scientific mission rather than a political or military purpose. However, as revealed through the photos, it became clear that the rivalry between the two countries in Hwasong, where the United States was in effect, had been ignited in earnest.

Meanwhile, Injury, which set a milestone for the first successful power flight on an extraterrestrial planet, exceeded expectations and recently succeeded in its 22nd flight.
