The police have launched an investigation after a pile of counterfeit 100-dollar bills were found among the dollars exchanged at a commercial bank.

A former police officer who was frustrated while trying to exchange dollars left after traveling abroad suspected a bank employee of the crime and filed a complaint.

A retired police officer in his 50s who visited a commercial bank in March to exchange money before traveling to Cambodia.

I exchanged one million won of the deposits in my bankbook into dollars.

Not long after, Mr. A, who exchanged 2,000 dollars at another branch of the same bank, tried to exchange the remaining money with our own money, but was refused the exchange.

Among the dollars that Mr. A brought, 7 100 dollar bills were counterfeit bills.

Mr. A raised the possibility that the bank paid counterfeit bills, saying that he never received or exchanged 100 dollar bills from anyone during the trip.

This is because the currency exchange records are not properly maintained.

[달러 위조지폐 신고자 : 달러를 환전하면 외화 환전이라고 기재하는 것이 맞습니다. 현금 인출이라고 기재된 부분이 지극히 상식적으로 이해가 안 되고….]

This is the receipt that Mr. A received from the bank at the time of exchange.

The receipt of exchange of 2,000 dollars and the financial transaction record match Mr. A’s name and transaction amount.

However, the name and account number are omitted from the receipt for exchanging 1 million Korean won at another branch of the same bank, and the customer grade and transaction amount are also marked differently from the actual ones.

Even this was not paid at the time of exchange, but it was sent to Mr. A only after a counterfeit bill was discovered.

In view of this situation, Mr. A asked the police to investigate, saying that there is a possibility that counterfeit bills were paid at the time of exchanging 1 million won.

The bank’s position is that it is a one-sided claim of Mr. A.

According to the bank, this is impossible because the payment is made after a counterfeit is detected through a bill counter.

In addition, the receipt of the exchange of 1 million won differs from the actual financial record, which is a business mistake of the banker and has nothing to do with counterfeit bills.

The possibility that Mr. A was exchanged for dollars in Cambodia without his knowledge cannot be ruled out.

After receiving the complaint from Mr. A, the police started an investigation into how the counterfeit $100 bill came into the market.
