EU warns Russia risks ‘unprecedented isolation’
Russia runs the risk of “unprecedented isolation” due to its military action in Ukraine, warned the head of European Union diplomacy, Josep Borrell, who announced that the bloc is preparing the largest package of sanctions in its history.
The EU, Borrell said, must adopt “the most robust and severe sanctions package we have ever put in place,” and with it “Russia’s leadership will face unprecedented isolation.” The leaders of the 27 countries of the European Union will hold an emergency summit to approve the sanctions.
