As announced, Bundesliga club 1. FC Köln will appeal the transfer penalty imposed by FIFA before the Court of Arbitration for Sport CAS.

“All briefs will be submitted on Monday,” said managing director Christian Keller after the 1-1 (0-1) win against FSV Mainz 05.

FC hopes to have the verdict suspended

The World Football Association has prohibited the Cologne team from signing new players for the next two transfer periods. The reason is the transfer of the then 16-year-old Slovenian Jaka Cuber Potocnik, who unilaterally terminated his contract with Olimpija Ljubljana in January 2022 and came to Cologne on a free transfer.

The Slovenians accused FC of inciting a breach of contract and complained to FIFA. As a first step, the FC hopes that the CAS will temporarily suspend the verdict.
