10.5 percent: inflation already in double digits in September – economic policy

Inflation in Austria accelerated significantly once more in late summer and reached double-digit values. According to a quick estimate by Statistics Austria, inflation in September was 10.5 percent, the highest in Germany since July 1952. The main reason for the rise in consumer prices is the sharp increase in household energy and fuel prices. Moderate price increases can be seen in food and gastronomy.
