Nedunkandam ∙ Thieves left 10 sacks full of sandalwood remains in a 60 feet deep well. The fire brigade sent divers to the well and removed part of the logs. The robbers left the logs in the well following the forest department started an investigation into the theft of sandalwood from Ramakkalmedu. Pieces of wood up to one and a half feet in size were found. A few days ago, sandalwood trees were stolen from the farm of a Ramakkalmedu resident.

The pieces of wood were lying in an abandoned well in the backyard regarding half a kilometer from the farm where the theft took place. The sacks contained small pieces of wood, debris, and bark. The sandalwood trees were cut down but left on the farm due to lack of core.

Diving experts D. Prasobh and Sarankumar came down to the well. A team of firefighters Sunil Kumar, Chandrakanth, Binoj Rajan, Siddharthan and Rajendran reached the spot.
