100 cash registers for Kaiser “band-aids on a gaping wound”

For Carinthia’s governor Peter Kaiser (SPÖ), the measures decided in the Council of Ministers against the problems in the health sector are not sufficient. 100 new doctor positions this year and the starting bonus of up to 100,000 euros for the equipment of the cash offices are “like a band-aid on a gaping wound,” said the chairman of the state governors’ conference to the “Kronen Zeitung”. He insists on more medical school places.

As part of the financial equalization negotiations, Kaiser is pushing for a “different, more equitable distribution” of tax revenue, because: “Expenditure growth from 2001 to 2019 was 55.3 percent for the federal government and 78.2 percent for the cities, states and municipalities gone up.” A constitutional lawsuit that Vienna’s mayor Michael Ludwig (SPÖ) recently threatened if that didn’t happen is “a possibility” for Kaiser. But he hopes “that the finance minister will accept the outstretched hand of the countries.” One is ready for reforms, such as those demanded by Health Minister Johannes Rauch (Greens).
