104 environmental activists arrested in Eindhoven, Netherlands for blocking airport

In the city of Eindhoven, 104 environmental activists have been detained, the Royal Netherlands Police said on Twitter. Representatives of Scientist Rebellion and Extinction Rebellion blocked the entrance to the private departure area at the airport.

Activists demanded a ban on private jets and an end to short flights. They believe that private jets emit more greenhouse gases than regular commercial jets.

In recent months, protests by eco-activists have been taking place in the Netherlands with the blocking of infrastructure. So, in mid-March, 700 people were detained, who blocked the highway in The Hague. About 800 more people were detained at a similar action at the end of January.
