10th Majlis Shura Elections in Oman: Register to Vote and Stay Informed

Muscat: The 10th Majlis Shura elections in Oman will be held on Sunday, October 29.
A total of 753,690 people, including men and women, are reaching the booths to register their right to vote in the 10th Majlis Shura elections. This includes 391,028 males and 362,924 females.

90 members are to be elected to the 10th Majlis Shura. There were 86 members in the ninth Majlis Shura held in 2019. Four new members have to be elected this time. An additional four members will be added to the Majlis Shura with one new member each in Jabal Akhtar and Sinaw, and one member each in the Wilayats of Bidbid and Ibra.

13,843 voters who are Omani citizens living outside the country have already registered their right to vote. The Ministry of Home Affairs stated that 9,230 men and 4,613 women voted. Citizens living outside Oman cast their votes on Sunday, October 22 through the app “‘Intiqaab'”.
Voters will be able to vote on Sunday through the website (www.elections.om) and ‘Intikhab’ app prepared for the Majlis Shura elections.

90 members are elected to the Majlis Shura from various provinces of Oman. There are 883 candidates, including 33 women.
Al-Sunaina, Mana, Al-Hamra, Adam, Al-Jabal Al-Akhdar, Al-Awabi, Nakhal, Wadi Al-Maawal, Al-Halaniyat Islands, Sada, Khasab, Dibba, Buqa, Mada, Tumraith, Dhalkut, Al -Masyouna, Mukhshin, Shalim, Muscat, Taqa, Mirbat, Rakyut, Sinaw, Yanqul, Dank, Haima, Mahut, Duqm, Al-Jazar, Bidiya, Al-Qabil, Wadi Bani Khalid, Dima, Al-Tayin, Al-Wafi , Masirah and Al-Kamil, each of the 38 Wilayats will elect members.

Al-Mudaibi, Ibri, Bowshar, Amirat, Matra, Seeb, Salala, Buraimi, Bidbid, Zohar, Shinas, Quraiyat, Niswa, Bahla, Iski, Samael, Liwa, Saham, Al-Qabura, Al-Suwaikh, Rustaq, Barka, Two representatives each from the provinces of Al-Musana, Sur, Jalan Bani Bu Hassan and Ibra reach the Majlis Shura.

The election to the ninth Majlis Shura was held on the 27th of October 2019. In 2019, 637 candidates were contesting in 86 constituencies. 714,000 voters registered their right to vote in 110 polling booths set up in 61 provinces of Oman. 715,335 voters were registered to participate in the election. The term of elected Majlis Shura is four years. In the 2015 Majlis Shura elections, only 611,906 voters were registered. The Majlis Shura came into force in Oman on 12 November 1991.
