Kochi: The NIA court will today consider the plea filed by Swapna Suresh, the accused in the diplomatic parcel gold smuggling case, seeking the return of the gold jewelery and dollars seized by the investigation team. A dream petition was also filed in the High Court in this regard.
The NIA team seized 112 pawan of gold, 65 lakh rupees and dollars from Bengaluru when Swapna, who was absconding in the gold smuggling case, was arrested. Swapna wants to return this.
Swapna petitioned for the return of the seized gold ornaments and money as she is facing financial difficulties. Swapna says that 625 pawan of gold was bought for marriage purpose and out of this 112 pawan was seized.
