Washington: Farmer Andrews (63) and his family have set a record for the heaviest pumpkin in North America. Andrews grew the giant pumpkin on his farm in Buffalo, New York. It weighs around 1,158 kg. According to Andrews, this achievement was achieved following several months of hard work. Andrews says he went to great lengths to protect the pumpkins from pests and small animals, in addition to fertilizers, water and soil.
Andrews received a prize of $5,500 (Rs 4,48,000) through the giant pumpkin. It is decided to use this amount for next year’s cultivation. Meanwhile, in 2021, a farmer in Tuscany, Italy, set a Guinness World Record with a 2,707-pound pumpkin. Andrews and his family are hoping to break this record. The picture of the pumpkin has gone viral following being shared on social media.
