During the course of the investigation it became known that the two young people were only at the train station in Gmunden and had already been handling the toy guns there. The 12-year-old Croatian citizen then continued his “tour” alone on Bahnhofstrasse in Gmunden and, with his face covered, tried to force a 49-year-old woman to get out of her car at a gas station with a pistol drawn.

Unsuccessful, he continued to another gas station. On the way there he targeted another woman. When he arrived at the gas station, he aimed at people again and pulled the trigger several times so that he could finally test out the sound of his blank ammunition.
