12 recommendations to improve the mental health of students

The “Student Mental Health According to the Saudi Vision 2030” conference, which was organized by Imam Muhammad bin Saud Islamic University over two days, came out with 12 recommendations, which included strengthening the role of universities and educational institutions in the Kingdom; To improve the level of mental health and quality of life for students, and to develop policies and procedures followed in educational institutions; Preparing and supporting a national program concerned with developing community awareness of mental health, holding developmental programs in the field of mental health for specialists and practitioners working in educational institutions and psychological treatment centers, and training psychologists and workers in the psychological field to provide electronic psychological services.
The recommendations included establishing partnerships with research centers and institutions inside and outside the Kingdom; To support and develop scientific production in the field of mental health, and to educate community members about the importance of the role of the psychologist in building interactive relationships with families of people with mental disorders.
The work and activities of the conference, which came under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Faisal bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Governor of Riyadh – may God protect him – and inaugurated its work on behalf of His Highness Dr. Ahmed Al-Amri, President of the University and Chairman of the Supreme Committee of the Conference, the participation of more than 45 speakers and researchers, and more than 22 entities in the accompanying exhibition from public and private sector institutions interested in providing mental health services, in addition to holding 8 specialized workshops.
The themes of the conference included: mental health and quality of life for university students, while the second axis dealt with the reality of mental disorders and methods of their diagnosis, while the third axis discussed the pioneering experiences in promoting student mental health, and the last axis reviewed the policies and procedures for promoting mental health in educational institutions.
