As a result, checks and offenses confirmed more than doubled in February compared to the previous month, with a particular focus on drink-driving, speeding, the prevention and suppression of improvisational racing and the failure to use seat belts and protective helmet.
In total, the two months of January – February 2024 were carried out -36.957- checks and confirmed -12.447- violations, of which -1.736- for violation of regulatory signs, -1.406- for not wearing a seat belt, -960- for not wearing a helmet, -899- for speeding and -486- for drunkenness.
At the same time, they were removed -2.056- driving licences, -2.006- traffic licenses and -833- signs, while immobilized -963- vehicles.
In more detail, the February were carried out 24.827 traffic checks of drivers and vehicles, while confirmed 8.425 violations, for which the corresponding administrative fines were imposed.
The violations confirmed were:
- 999 for not wearing a seat belt,
- 996 for violation of regulatory signs,
- 861 for not using a protective helmet,
- 575 parking spaces,
- 540 for deprivation of driving license,
- 382 for driving under the influence of alcohol and -19- a misdemeanor,
- 379 for speeding,
- 383 for noise,
- 301 for KTEO violations,
- 124 for working hours-tachographs,
- 59 for deprivation of an insurance policy,
- 54 for dangerous maneuvers,
- 44 for mobile phone use,
- 44 for demonstration of driving skills,
- 31 for violating a red light,
- 14 for improvised matches and
- 4,045 other violations.
In addition, 736 pairs of license plates, 1,558 traffic licenses, 1,373 driving licenses were removed, while 774 vehicles were immobilized.
The month January were carried out 12.130 traffic checks of drivers and vehicles, confirmed 4.022 violations, for which the corresponding administrative fines were imposed.
The violations confirmed were:
- 743 parking spaces,
- 740 for violation of regulatory signs,
- 520 for speeding,
- 407 for not wearing a seat belt,
- 141 for deprivation of driving license,
- 122 for noise,
- 104 for driving under the influence of alcohol and -8- a misdemeanor,
- 100 for traffic violations,
- 99 for not wearing a protective helmet,
- 86 for working hours-tachographs,
- 27 for dangerous maneuvers,
- 17 for violating a red light,
- 16 for deprivation of an insurance policy,
- 15 for mobile phone use,
- 13 to demonstrate driving skills,
- 5 for improvised matches and
- 1,825 other violations.
In addition, 97 pairs of license plates, 448 driving licenses, 683 driving licenses were removed, while 189 vehicles were immobilized.
The Greek Police attaches particular importance to road safety issues and in this context the controls will continue with unabated intensity in order to reduce traffic accidents.
