Vienna (OTS) – As part of the City of Vienna’s cycle path network expansion and in order to continue to improve climate protection, the City of Vienna – road administration and road construction will begin on Tuesday, February 20, 2024, on both sides of Atzgersdorfer Straße in the section between Süßergasse and Am Rosenhügel in the 13th . or 23rd district with the construction of one-way cycle paths. In addition, a total of 15 new trees will be planted to provide shade and cooling in the future.
Details
On both sides of Atzgersdorfer Straße, one-way cycle paths that are around 1.60 meters wide will be built over a length of around 450 meters in the section between Süßergasse and Am Rosenhügel. The cycling facility on the side leading into the city turns into a cycle lane from around 100 meters after the Süßergasse junction to the Wöbergasse junction. To provide more shade, a total of ten new trees will be planted in the project section on Atzgersdorfer Straße on the side of the water tank (side leading out of town) and five new trees in the area of the Am Rosenhügel intersection plateau by the end of the year. As a measure for greater safety and comfort, the existing stop cape from number 167 to Atzgersdorfer Straße will be moved to number 165 and converted into a cape that can be used by cyclists. At the same time as the construction work required by the project, the roadway on Atzgersdorfer Straße in the project area will be renovated due to damage caused over time.
Traffic measures
The construction work on Atzgersdorfer Straße is expected to take place until the end of March, with one lane remaining clear.
Foot traffic will be maintained.
The City of Vienna – Road Administration and Road Construction will report separately on the traffic measures from the end of March until the end of construction.
