15 years as a duo: Schwarzjirg and Danner celebrate at Café-Puls

Bianca Schwarzjirg and Florian Danner accompanied the “Café Puls” audience more than 1,500 times with their moderation in the morning hours. According to Puls 4, this makes the two of them the TV couple with the most shows together on Austrian television. The private broadcaster is using the pair’s 15th anniversary as an opportunity to focus on teamwork from November 6th to 10th. Outstanding teams are invited to Puls 4 breakfast television every day from 5:30 a.m.

Danner described the fact that he and Schwarzjirg are the longest-serving TV moderation duo in this country as “incredible” to the APA. “What about the legendary ‘Zeit im Bild’ actresses from before, Danielle Spera and Horst Friedrich Mayer or Hannelore Veit and Josef Broukal or Lizzy Engstler and Wolfram Pirchner in the earlier ‘Welcome Austria’. Those are still the TV couples. But “They actually weren’t ‘together’ for 15 years,” said the moderator, who describes himself and Schwarzjirg as “fundamentally different.” “We probably would never have met in real life,” says Danner.

Schwarzjirg is convinced that the fact that things work so well between the two is due to “respect, understanding and trust”. “So we always get along well together, even through difficult days or stressful times.” Working at “Café Puls” sometimes feels like more than that. For example, when Schwarzjirg once went on maternity leave. “Flo played a rewritten song on the piano on air and sang with the rest of the team and even organized for my husband to secretly come to the studio and officially pick me up. That was a very personal moment on television that felt very much like family has,” recalls the moderator.

Danner sees the fact that, as the presenter of a breakfast television show, you have to get up much earlier than the audience as a “huge challenge”. At half past two, in the middle of the night, the time has come for him. In the 15 years, the two have tried out several different ways to find the best way to get out of their beds – from cell phone alarms to classic old alarm clocks without a snooze button to mutual “wakeup calls” at the beginning of their “Café Puls” career. Hardly anyone will question the fact that this is a matter of substance. So is there still energy available for another 1,500 shipments? “So I doubt whether there will be another 1,500 broadcasts. Although, who knows… Maybe then there will be a senior citizens’ ‘Café Puls’. Never say never, you never know what’s coming,” Schwarzjirg doesn’t venture a prediction.

However, it is already possible to predict who will be guests in their studio from Monday to Friday to act as teamwork role models: garbage collectors who have been defying wind and weather for years, Kasperl & Petzi, the magicians Thommy Ten and Amélie von Tass, the band Cari Cari, the Vienna Boys’ Choir and ski jumper Eva Pinkelnig with her team. Danner and Schwarzjirg also invite 15 spectators and their work and club colleagues to the Hotel Sacher for a weekend. In addition to snacking on a Sachertorte, there is also dinner over the rooftops of Vienna and a visit to various sights. In addition to Puls 4, the anniversary week is also available on the streaming provider Joyn.
