Burgenland/Vienna/Wels – Storms with enormous amounts of rain hit parts of Burgenland on Tuesday. 90 liters of rain per square meter fell in Bruckneudorf, near the Lower Austrian border. Numerous cellars had to be pumped out, with the districts of Güssing and Neusiedl am See being particularly affected. By the evening there were around 160 fire brigade operations on Tuesday. Rail traffic between Bruck an der Leitha and Neisiedl am See was interrupted well into the night. The festival site of the Novarock Festival, which starts in Nickelsdorf on Wednesday, did not have to be cleared.
