162 dialysis patients suffer consequences of the armed strike in the south of Córdoba, warns the Ombudsman

The Ombudsman’s Office alerted by the rrisk for home dialysis patients –those who need artificial help to cleanse the blood, due to kidney problems– in the midst of the armed strike promoted by the Clan del Golfo.

According to the information known by the Public Ministry, one of the laboratories specialized in this type of treatment at home reports that from Thursday May 5 –when the armed strike began– has not been able to deliver kidney supplies for 162 patients in the south of Córdoba.

In addition, this Monday, May 9, medicines and supplies should reach another 245 patients in the South Atlanticbut the uncertainty is great and it is not clear if they will be able to make the delivery.

“The lives of these people are in danger if they do not receive these supplies soon, that is why we call on those who promote armed actions to allow the passage of vehicles from the medical missions detained on the roads of La Apartada, Sampués and Magangué, as well as for the others who come from Barranquilla and the center of the country”, said Carlos Camargo, the Ombudsman.
