17% increase in public taxi fares in Saudi Arabia

In Saudi Arabia, a 17 percent increase in public taxi fares came into effect. The minimum fare in cities has been raised from five riyals to ten riyals. The revised taxi fare has been announced by the Public Transport Authority.

Until now, the minimum fare in cities for taxis with a maximum capacity of four was 5 riyals. From now on it will be 10 riyals. In addition, you will have to pay 2.10 riyals for each additional kilometer. Earlier it was 1.8 riyals.

The taxi service charge has been increased by 16.36 per cent while the meter opening charge has been increased to 6.4 riyals. From now on, the waiting charge will be 1.05 riyals per minute.

Taxis for five or more passengers have also been increased. The rate for meter opening of such taxis has been increased by 21.67 per cent. According to this, instead of the previous 6 riyals, you will now have to pay 7.3 riyals. In addition, the charge for each additional kilometer has been increased to 2.4 riyals instead of two riyals. According to the Public Transport Authority, the waiting charge for such vehicles has been increased by 22.22 per cent per minute.
