17 mid-level technicians graduate in coffee management in Rafael Urdaneta

On June 26, at the headquarters of the Pedro María Caicedo Technical School in the town of Delicias, Rafael Urdaneta municipality, Táchira state, the closing day of the first training process for mid-level technicians in the management of coffee nurseries and seedbeds was held, an agreement developed between the Ministry of Agriculture and Lands, the EPS Páramo de El Tamá, the local Mayor’s Office, the educational sector and the community.

The mayor of the Rafael Urdaneta municipality, Raúl Villamizar, reported that 17 young people from the fourth and fifth year of high school graduated from this first class. “Rafael Urdaneta is a coffee-growing municipality that has increased its coffee production in recent years. We have more than 600 thousand coffee plants planted in recent years and this is strengthening, because these young people have the tools to advise and encourage our coffee growers here in the El Reposo area and in our municipality,” he said.

For his part, the director of EPS Páramo El Tamá, Arlex Villamizar, expressed his satisfaction that the objective of training young people as specialists in coffee production to guarantee the economy of the municipality had been met.

He added that producers, parents and representatives also participated in this process. “We delivered the diploma through state agencies, who did not help to make it a reality,” he said.
