PRESIDENT Joko Widodo (<a href="https://www.archyde.com/my-countrys-ban-on-coal-exports-causes-global-coal-prices-to-soar-shangbao-indonesia/" title="my country's ban on coal exports causes global coal prices to soar-Shangbao Indonesia“>Jokowi) revealed the reason for the cancellation of the plan to move 1,700 state civil servants (ASN) to the Indonesian Capital City (IKN) this September. The President said there were still supporting facilities that were not ready

“It’s not as easy as we imagine to move, to move right away, because it involves moving, whether the house is ready, whether the apartment is ready. If the apartment is ready, is the water also ready, the electricity is also ready, all of this is necessary, we are building a large ecosystem,” said President Jokowi on the sidelines of a working visit to Sidoarjo, East Java, Friday, September 6, 2024.

The government, said the President, will move ASN to the IKN when all supporting facilities are confirmed to be ready. So that the ecosystem built in the IKN can run well.

“We hope that later there will be real interaction between the people living in the IKN, a truly vibrant community, rising in terms of economy, social, culture, and others,” he explained.

The President admitted that he did not know when all ASN supporting facilities would be ready. However, he would often visit the IKN so that development would proceed quickly.

“We continue to visit there, three days, four days, to continue consolidating with the Head of OIKN (Basuki Hadimuljono) so that what we have planned is in accordance with the specified target,” he emphasized.
