Jeddah: 1,75,025 pilgrims from India will be able to perform this year’s Hajj. This year’s Hajj agreement with Saudi Arabia and India came into effect. Saudi Hajj and Umrah Deputy Minister Dr. Abdul Fattah Mashat and Jeddah Indian Consul General Muhammad Shahid Alam signed the agreement at the Hajj Expo exhibition held at Jeddah Super Dome near King Abdullah Sports City in Jeddah.
Foreign pilgrims from outside Saudi Arabia were not allowed to perform Hajj in 2020 and 2021 due to Covid. Last year, due to restrictions, only 1 million pilgrims from inside and outside Saudi had the opportunity to perform Hajj. Eight and a half lakh of them were foreign pilgrims. Last year, only 79,237 pilgrims from India performed Hajj.
Now, Saudi Arabia has redefined the Hajj quota of 1,75,025 which was allotted to India before Covid. This year’s Hajj will be from June 26 to July 1.
Saudi Hajj and Umrah Minister Dr. Dr. Tawfiq Al-Rabia Deputy Minister with 17 countries. Abdul Fattah Mashat signed this year’s Hajj agreement with all seven countries. The Saudi authorities sign comprehensive agreements with various countries that include Hajj quotas for each country, travel facilities for pilgrims from these countries to enter and exit Saudi Arabia, procedures related to Hajj organization, and services provided to pilgrims. The Hajj Expo in Jeddah will conclude on Thursday.
