18 murdered in Zacatecas in a single day

Zacatecas.— In different criminal acts, organized crime left a red balance of 18 dead in four municipalities of the state, which terrorized the population, presumably due to the dispute between the Sinaloa Cartel and the Jalisco New Generation Cartel.
The state yesterday registered the highest number of murders in a single day for an entity in the country so far in 2022.

The first position was held by the State of Mexico with 16 intentional homicides on January 24, followed by Michoacán, with 15; Guanajuato, 14, the latter occurring on the 17th of that month, according to the daily murder report prepared by the federal security cabinet.

Yesterday, Saturday, the first event occurred around six in the morning, when the inhabitants of the community of El Pardillo Tercero, located in the municipality of Fresnillo, were shocked to see the 10 bodies thrown, wrapped in blankets and sealed with cinnamon tape. , scattered along two main streets, for which they immediately called 911.

The different state and federal corporations moved to the place, where the area was cordoned off and the processing of the place began to transfer the corpses to the Forensic Medical Service to identify the victims.

Later, it became known that six other bodies had been found inside a warehouse located between the communities of San Pablo and Santa Elena, in the municipality of Pánfilo Natera.

This fact was confirmed by the State Public Security Office and by prosecutor Francisco Murillo Ruiseco, who reported that the bodies of six men were suspended from a railing in a warehouse.

The prosecutor indicated that “this last fact could be related to the arrest that took place last Friday in the municipality of Ojocaliente, where the security forces captured two individuals who were carrying a person deprived of life in a truck,” and He justified that he could not issue more information because the investigations are still continuing.

Meanwhile, in the municipality of Guadalupe, an armed attack was recorded on Guerrero street, in the heart of the downtown area, where several firearm detonations were heard in the Santa Cecilia alley, in which a man lost his life.

At night, the Public Security Spokesperson announced that in the Las Lomas neighborhood, in the municipality of Calera, a taxi driver was the victim of an armed attack, who was left next to his vehicle, marked with the economic number 8 of that municipality.

Governor asks for trust

After the discovery, Governor David Monreal Ávila (Morena) issued a message in which he anticipated that the victims could be members of organized crime who are currently confronted, but he trusted that social peace and tranquility “sooner or later we will achieve and I sincerely hope that it will be sooner rather than later”.

In a video broadcast on social networks, the president reported that as soon as he became aware of the events, he immediately informed President Andrés Manuel López Obrador and the security cabinet.

He specified that since he assumed the government (almost five months ago) he knew what he would face, “because he received the state in the worst climate of insecurity in history”, therefore, he promised to restore peace.

Monreal Ávila assured that with the Zacatecas Security Plan 2, which was implemented in conjunction with the federal government, crimes have been reduced, but he acknowledged that this has generated an escalation of violence, which he attributed to clashes between organized crime groups that They are the ones that cause human loss.

He asked the population to trust him. “We are not going to give in, we will continue to act responsibly and very firmly,” he said while stressing that insecurity is a scourge they inherited.
