18-Year-Old Dubraska López Admits to Murdering UNEFA Student: 20-Year Sentence Imposed

Dubraska López, 18 years old, accused of murdering the student of the National Experimental University of the Armed Forces (Unefa), Ziskeily Andrea Cordovés Figueroa, admitted the facts in the trial phase carried out by the First Court of the Criminal Judicial Circuit of the state Aragua.

The information was confirmed by the victim’s mother, Zicesky Figueroa, accompanied by her lawyer Rodolfo Ampueda, whom she thanks for the efforts carried out. “Thanks to my lawyer, the court and the prosecutor’s office of the Public Ministry (MP), justice is being done,” said Figueroa.

With this acceptance of charges, the court early sentenced Dubraska López to a sentence of 20 years in prison, after the MP charged her with intentional homicide qualified with premeditation and treachery as author.

As for Wilmer Granado, the other detainee in this case, Zicesky Figueroa pointed out that he did not assume his responsibility in the murder as a co-author, so the trial against him will take place in the coming days.

As you will remember, the events occurred when Ziskeily Andrea Cordovés Figueroa (19) was murdered on November 30, 2023 at the Unefa located in the Girardot municipality of Aragua state, allegedly by two classmates, whom the authorities identified as Dubraska López (18) and Wilmer Granado (20).

Dubraska invited Ziskeily Andrea to the bathroom, specifically to a covered area that is used as an area to perform physiological needs. Once there, Wilmer appeared and subdued Ziskeily Andrea, while Dubraska took out a knife and wounded her, according to the investigations.

“After causing her death, they threw the girl’s cell phone towards the same fenced area, so they could flee the university towards their respective residences, where they proceeded to wash the clothing and shoes they were wearing,” he explained in Commissioner Douglas Rico, national director of the Scientific, Criminal and Criminal Investigations Corps (Cicpc), took his opportunity.

According to Rico, “the perpetrator had feelings of rage against her partner because she was more intelligent and she killed her.” Zicesky Figueroa asks for “the maximum sentence for these two people who represent a risk to society. Being intelligent cannot be a danger.”
