187 goals in 2 games: scoring in Sierra Leone has an aftermath

After scoring over 90 goals in two domestic league games, the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) has launched an investigation. Gulf FC won 91-1 in the race for a play-off spot on Sunday while direct rivals Kahula Rangers won 95-0. The SLFA said in a statement that they will have zero tolerance for match-fixing.

No record

“The public at large can be assured that this case will be thoroughly investigated and anyone found guilty will be faced with the full force of the law,” the statement said.

If the results are recognized, no record beckons. A league game in Madagascar in 2002, when AS Adema beat SO Emyrne 149-0, is considered the record. Emyrne players scored own goal following own goal to protest referee decisions.
