On November 6, the 18th Cross-Strait (Sanming) Forestry Expo and Investment and Trade Fair (hereinafter referred to as the “Forest Expo”) officially opened at the Sanming Convention and Exhibition Center. With the theme of “Bringing into full play the functions of the ‘four reservoirs’ of forests and promoting the integrated development of both sides of the Taiwan Strait”, this year’s Forestry Expo focuses on the results of the value realization mechanism of ecological products, demonstrating the new results of forestry reform, new achievements in cross-Strait integration, and the new look of rural revitalization. At the same time, we insist on focusing on the theme, creating “innovation” features, and promoting the high-quality development of Sanming forestry. It is reported that this event will last until November 9.

This year’s Forestry Expo mainly highlights the following four features: first, to display the results of forestry reform and development; second, to promote the integrated development of rural areas on both sides of the Taiwan Strait; third, to display and sell specialty products from both sides of the Taiwan Strait; and fourth, to continue to deepen Shanghai-Ming cooperation. Compared with previous editions, the Bamboo Expo went beyond Sanming and held the Yangtze River Delta International Cultural Industry Expo – 2023 International (Yong’an) Bamboo Expo in Shanghai. Invite relevant units in Shanghai and leaders of relevant districts for counterpart cooperation to participate in the Forest Expo to promote win-win cooperation between the two places.
“Green has always been Sanming’s most beautiful background,” Sanming Municipal Party Committee Secretary Li Xinghu said at the Forestry Expo. Forestry has long been Sanming’s largest industry. The city’s forestry industry has a total output value of nearly 130 billion yuan (125.8 billion yuan) and has been rated as a national forest. It has a series of titles such as city, national ecological civilization construction demonstration zone, and national comprehensive pilot city for forestry reform and development. Over the years, Sanming has insisted on “using forests as bridges, bridging the two sides, strengthening cooperation, and common development”, and has taken the lead in forestry reform and development and cross-strait exchanges and cooperation; Sanming’s forestry reform experience was reported at a press conference of the State Council. “The Cross-Strait Forestry Expo has been successfully held for 17 years and has attracted widespread attention from all walks of life on both sides of the Taiwan Strait. The event also held the launch ceremony of Sanming Forest Ticket 2.0, the release ceremony of the “Green Capital Mingpin” series of products, and the centralized signing ceremony of key projects in the province’s forestry industry and Sanming’s characteristic industry investment projects. According to reports, this Forestry Expo has planned and generated 82 investment projects and implemented 68 contract projects, with a total investment of 14.096 billion yuan. Among them, there are 5 foreign-invested projects in Taiwan, with contracted foreign investment of 29.73 million US dollars, and 52 projects with investment of more than 100 million yuan or more than 10 million US dollars, with a total investment of 13.33 billion yuan.
