19 dead and more than 60 injured so far

A fire on Sunday in a residential building in the New York borough of the Bronx left at least 19 dead, New York City Mayor Eric Adams confirmed to CNN.

According to the New York Post newspaper and the ABC7 television channel, which cite police sources, among the 19 fatalities there are nine children.

These people were part of the 32 who were transported from the scene of the events to local hospitals in “Life threatening conditions”, as announced by New York Fire Department Chief Dan Nigro.

The governor of New York, Kathy Hochul, regretted what happened through her Twitter account: “I am horrified by the devastating fire in the Bronx today.
