1950s McDonald’s fries found in their wall

An Illinois couple were in for a surprise when they discovered a 1950s bag of McDonald’s French fries in the wall of their home.

Rob and Gracie Jones were making renovations to their Crystal Lake home at the time of the discovery.

“Rob was in the bathroom replacing the toilet paper holder. When he pulled it out, he saw a rag rolled up in the wall,” Jones told CNN.

At this time, she and her husband were completely unaware of what they had just found.

“We exchanged a look and wondered if we were going to have to call the police because we had just found evidence linked to a crime scene!” continues the woman.

Rob and Gracie breathed a sigh of relief when they saw it was an old bag from McDonald’s.

Inside it, they found two burger wrappers and the remains of a portion of fries – crispy and brown…

“We saw the fries and thought it was surreal. How is it possible that the fries are still in the bag and are so well preserved? It was completely mind-blowing!” mentions Gracie Jones.

The couple were able to date the food by doing some research on the logo that was on the packaging. The images match those the fast food chain used from 1955 to 1961.

Rob and Gracie also learned that one of the restaurants in their area was built near their house in 1959 – the same year their home was built.

Not sure what to do with the fries, the couple decided to keep them in storage for now.

“We would be happy to sell them. Otherwise, we risk keeping them as historical objects,” concludes Gracie.
