The Prey series has an incredibly strange and sad story. The franchise can truly be called a “victim” of the video game industry. The development of the first part began in the mid-90s, then stalled, the game changed engines, the concept, and 2006 finally got to the release.
But after that, the franchise began to have other problems: the sequel also stalled in production, and then was canceled altogether. In 2017, Prey from Arkane was released, which is connected with the original game only by the name, and the French studio did not want the shooter to receive such a name until the very end.
Now players can get acquainted with the demo prototype of the game from 1995. It leaked to the network and is available for downloads by everyone. It has very little content: one big level with no gameplay. However, even such content will be of interest to those who love the history of video games.
At the moment, only Prey 2017 is officially available. Even GOG doesn’t have a 2006 shooter.
