1st Apple store in India could open in April

After facing many obstacles, the first Apple Store already India may open in Mumbai next month — with a second store, in Nova Delhiready to be opened later — according to new information from the The Economic Times.

According to the report, “industry executives aware of Apple’s plans” say the flagship store in Mumbai will open in Aprilwhile the unit in New Delhi will be inaugurated by June this year.

According to the executives’ statement, the final touches of both stores have already been completed: “Actually, the fitting was completed in the Delhi store before the Mumbai one” – but as the latter will be the main point of sale in India, it will open first.

The two stores will be significant in size, with the Mumbai location occupying over 2,000 square meters in the Jio World Drive shopping centre. The New Delhi store will be located at Select Citywalk Mall and will occupy almost 930 square meters.

The stores will be a milestone for Apple, which has struggled for years to open its official stores in India. So far, the country is served only by an Apple Online Store (since 2020), although local retailers have a network of authorized resellers.

We’ll see if Apple actually confirms these plans in the coming weeks.
