2001’s Duke Nukem Forever Resurfaces – Gearbox Software, 3D Realms Entertainment – News

Duke Nukem Forever is one of those rare games whose development story is more interesting than the finished product. So let’s go back in time to June 2001. Factornews doesn’t exist yet and E3 is in full swing. DNF was announced 4 years earlier and just to reassure fans, 3D Realms releases a trailer that has become legendary showing 2min30 of gameplay of a game that seemed very advanced.

By some miracle, x0r, a 4chan regularmanaged to get their hands on on the famous E3 2001 build and posted some videos and screenshots of the result in action. x0r has promised to release the build in question in June. George Broussard has confirmed its authenticity. Don’t expect a finished game but more a gloubi-boulga of levels populated or not by enemies.

The Duke Nukem license is currently in the hands of Gearbox Software which does not intend to do anything with it, Randy Pitchford being too busy spending the money earned from the sale of the studio to Embracer.
