2022, the year when the WTO has stalled again

Nothing is going right at the World Trade Organization (WTO). Or almost. “We haven’t done much in the last six months,” director Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala lamented to members of the organization at the last meeting of the General Council, its decision-making body, on Monday and tuesday. “Six months without negotiations is not acceptable.” Indeed, the only decision that has been ratified concerns the next ministerial meeting, the 13th, of the WTO; it will be held in Abu Dhabi from February 26, 2024.
