Shanghai – AFP
Disinfection services in China are spraying tons of chemicals, from streets to apartments to pets, in their quest to eradicate the Corona virus, although the effectiveness of this measure to combat the epidemic is questioned.
China, where COVID-19 first appeared at the end of 2019, saw a resurgence of the epidemic at the beginning of the year with the mutated Omicron causing the closure of entire cities, especially the most populous Shanghai.
The sterilization campaign, which is part of the “zero covid” strategy, is a “systemic attack” once morest the virus, according to a local official in early May.
Videos circulating online showed employees in full protection kits spraying apartments whose residents were transferred to the quarantine center.
No personal belongings, such as furniture, clothes, and food, escaped the spray of disinfectant in the homes whose residents had to leave for this purpose.
Outside, the wave of sterilization has reached sidewalks, building walls and even gardens.
Experts believe that these efforts are not useful in the face of a virus that spreads mainly through the air when coughing or sneezing.
not useful
But this is not enough to dissuade employees in protective suits from doing their job.
Shanghai, which has been under lockdown since early April, had disinfected at least 13,000 apartment complexes by May 2, or 140 million square metres, according to Vice Mayor Liu Duo.
The government’s “zero Covid” strategy, despite its cost to the economy and public liberties, is causing increasing resentment from Shanghai residents, who complain that it will continue for an unknown extent.
China has recorded limited deaths so far as a result of Covid, unlike those recorded in Western countries. The Chinese government sees this as evidence of the “superiority of its policy”.

War in Ukraine: seven young patients from Ukraine welcomed in Belgium
A first convoy of seven patients from Ukraine arrived in Belgium on Friday, at the military airport of Melsbroek, indicates the FPS Public Health.
The purpose of this medical evacuation, the result of cooperation between several partners, is to offer these people appropriate medical treatment.
These are young patients, aged 2 to 17, suffering from blood cancers such as leukemia or solid tumors such as brain tumours.
This medical evacuation is the result of successful cooperation between several partners.
The patients and their relatives arrived in Belgium via Lviv (Ukraine) and then Poland where a specific hospital for children with cancer fleeing the fighting was set up to coordinate the evacuation to the various European countries. The Belgian Society of Pediatric Hemato-Oncology (BSPHO) was the relay point with the teams in Poland for the organization of the evacuation to our country.
KickCancer coordinated the management of patients’ immediate needs with four patient organizations specialized in supporting patients: Aide aux Enfants Cancéreux (AEC, Liège), Kinderkankerfonds (Flanders), Sun Child (Brussels) and Tuki (Flanders) .
A charter flight was organized from Poland to Belgium by B-FAST*. A team of pediatricians, nurses and translators accompanied the flight. At the Queen Astrid Military Hospital in Neder-Over-Heembeek, a reception platform has been installed. The children were re-examined there by a medical specialist and the Immigration Office proceeded to register them. The BSPHO also organized the distribution between different specialized centers in Belgium. Relatives are accommodated by Fedasil in municipalities close to treating hospitals.
The European Commission contributes financially up to 75% of transport costs and is in charge of coordinating medical evacuations.
Several patient associations have mobilized for the practical support of the operation and of the patients during their stay in Belgium.
How To Enable Or Disable Quick Access In Windows 11/10 File Explorer
Quick access is a new feature in Windows 11/10 File Explorer navigation pane. In Windows 8.1 Explorer’s Navigation Pane, you used to have Favorites, but now Quick Access seems to have replaced it. This feature is useful because it helps users quickly navigate to locations you use frequently, as well as those you’ve recently used.
Windows users may have noticed that, by default, File Explorer opens to Quick Access. Windows 11/10 makes it fairly easy for power users to tweak the operating system to their liking. It seems that the majority of user feedback to Microsoft is centered around users demanding the choice to easily enable or disable different UI elements. So, if you want, you can open Explorer on This PC instead of Quick Access.
If you want, in the interest of privacy, you can also disable quick access in the navigation pane, as it were. What you can do is prevent Explorer from showing recently and frequently used files and folders there. Let’s see how.
Disable Quick Access – Do not show folders
To disable Quick Access in Windows 11 or Windows 10 File Explorer:
- Launch Explorer
- Click Open Folder Options from the Ribbon
- Locate Privacy under the General tab
- Uncheck the two boxes that disable this feature.
- Show recently used files in quick access
- Show frequently used folders in quick access
- Click Apply and restart Explorer.
What you need to do is turn off the display of recently and frequently used files and folders in File Explorer.
To remove the Frequent Folders and Recent Files list from Quick Access, open File Explorer, click the View tab in the ribbon, then click Options, then click Change folder and search optionsto open Folder Options.
You will need to uncheck the following two checkboxes present in the Privacy section:
- Show recently used files in quick access
- Show frequently used folders in quick access
Click Apply and Exit. The action will instantly remove these two sections from Quick Access in File Explorer.
Clear quick access history in explorer
To clear your quick access history, tap the Clear button once morest Clear File Explorer history.
You can also unpin pinned items such as Desktop, Downloads, etc. on the left side of the navigation pane.
In this way, you can prevent Windows 11/10 from showing recently and frequently used files and folders in Quick Access and thus maintain your privacy.
See this post if Quick Access is not working or broken.
What is the difference between Quick Access and This PC?
This PC and Quick Access are very different in the way This PC displays connected devices and drives. On the other hand, the Quick Access view provides access to frequently used folders and recently used files.
Why does Explorer open in quick access?
It is intended for easy access to your recent work. Thus, it is kept as the default File Explorer view in Windows 11. However, if you are not using it, you can change this default setting.
