MINNEAPOLIS, MN. – The 2023-24 Scarlet Knights season ended on Wednesday in Minneapolis.

No. 13 seeded Rutgers was downed 65-45 by No. 12 seed Maryland in the first round of the 2024 Big Ten Tournament at the Target Center.

Rutgers started the game in a shooting slump and made just six of its first 24 shots from the field in the first half. Maryland started the game on fire from the field and got off to an 11-0 lead and continued to a 17-3 run to begin the game.

After taking a 36-22 lead into the break, the Terrapins outscored the Scarlet Knights were nodded up with Maryland 29-29 in the second half.

Maryland dominated on the fastbreak 19-to-6.

Junior center Julian Reese had 12 points, six rebounds, and three assists. Fifth-year guard Jahmir Young had 11 points, eight rebounds, and seven assists. Fifth-year forward Donta Scott led the way with 16 points and three rebounds.

Freshman guard Gavin Griffiths scored 16 points and added three rebounds. Graduate forward Aundre Hyatt scored 12 points and added four boards. Redshirt junior guard Jeremiah Williams scored seven points.

Rutgers finished off the 2023-24 season (15-17) overall.
