2023 Electricity Price Increase: Government Decision Raises Regulated Tariff by 10%

Second increase in the price of electricity for 2023. The government has decided, as of August 1, the regulated electricity price will be higher by 10%.

So electricity will cost us more from August 1st. Already on February 1, 2023, the regulated electricity tariff had been raised by 15%and henceforth the note will be even saltier.
Emmanuelle Wargon, president of the energy regulation commission, the organization which proposes the tariffs to the government, questioned on France Inter on July 24, notably declared that the taxpayer still benefits from the tariff shield, therefore the increase is only 10%.
In the space of 6 months, there will have been a 25% increase in the electricity bill.
This new increase obviously concerns all customers, individuals and professionals in mainland France and overseas, because the principle of equalization applies.
Remember that when we take out an EDF contract, without special conditions (monthly payment, bi-annual payment for example) the invoice is issued every two months. Each client will therefore assess his situation upon receipt of his next term.

These increases are, moreover, as many incentives to review our energy consumption patterns. To find tips for lowering the bill with less energy-intensive household equipment, to better insulate homes, to equip themselves with ceiling fans instead of air conditioners and solar water heaters.
Should we also remember the government scheme “Energy voucher” for the most modest households.
