Dry humping is a sexual practice known as “non-penetrative” which consists of rubbing his genitals once morest his or her partner or once morest any object (duvet, cushion, duffel, table corner, etc.) in order to increase the excitement. As for the “accessory” on which to rub her genitals, the sex therapist retorts: “To each person his inspiration: pillow, cushion, stool… but with awareness. Because if practicing on a corner of the table can be interesting in terms of sensations, its angular side can also be dangerous.

“You can give free rein to your imagination (standing, sitting, at an angle, etc.) provided you always respect your feelings and stay on the lookout for your limits. If the posture becomes awkward or hurts, we change or we stop completely”, insists the sex therapist.

“It’s a very effective sexual practice when you don’t want do penetrative sex and that we want to protect ourselves from STIs (sexually transmitted infections) and/or not to get pregnant”, explains the sex therapist.

Dry humping also allows you to discover yourself and find out what you like: “It’s a sexual practice in its own right. It allows you to explore your sexuality. Some will even be able to reach orgasm, especially people with a clitoris, even if it is not an end in itself,” continues Corine Rodrigue.

Finally, as these frictions are practiced while fully clothed, this opens up a multitude of places to get started: elevators, parks… In case of prying eyes, all you have to do is take a break as if nothing had happened!

Performed improperly, dry humping can in some cases (but this is rare) cause irritation or burns to the genitals. Remember that these are extremely sensitive because of the nerve endings found there, no less than 10,000 at the level of the clitoris (source 2).

Australian doctors have also reported the case of a patient in his thirties who ended up with a huge abscess on his penis following having performed a session a little hard (source 3). As you will have understood, in the event of abnormal reactions, it will therefore be strongly advised to quickly take medical advice.

“First apologize for interrupting your child, then close the door behind you very quietly and leave. A little later, we can ask him to discuss it to exchange with him/her: specify that there is nothing shameful in masturbating, ask if he/she has questions regarding sexuality or masturbation » , explains Corine Rodrigue.
