Windows 11 added the ability to display seconds on the clock on the taskbar. The function became available following the release of update KB5028185. An additional scale is activated through the taskbar settings. At the same time, the description of the function specifies that following turning it on, the PC will begin to consume more energy. Microsoft tried to add seconds to the clock on the taskbar back in 2003 with Windows XP. However, during testing, it turned out that this setting significantly reduces the performance of computers, and it was decided to abandon it. Seconds might also be enabled in Windows 10, but this required editing registry entries.

ADNOC is developing the first station in the region for “high-speed” refueling with clean hydrogen fuel
2023-07-18 22:03:13
Yesterday, ADNOC announced the start of construction of the first station in the Middle East to supply “high-speed” hydrogen fuel. The plant being developed in Masdar City will produce clean hydrogen from water using an electrolyzer powered by a clean electricity grid.
Hydrogen is a clean fuel that does not cause any carbon emissions when used and has a stored energy density per unit mass that is the highest among other fuels, which enables vehicles that use it to travel a longer distance and refuel faster compared to battery electric vehicles.
In this project, ADNOC is cooperating with Toyota Motors Corporation and Al-Futtaim Motors to test a station in “high-speed” hydrogen fueling using a number of vehicles that run on clean hydrogen.
Dr. Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology, Managing Director and CEO of ADNOC and its group of companies, said: “In line with the directives of the leadership in the UAE, (ADNOC) is working on implementing an ambitious low-carbon growth strategy in response to the urgent need to reduce emissions and the repercussions of climate change, as well. The company is making significant investments to establish itself as a preferred supplier of future clean energy.”
He added, “Hydrogen is an important fuel for achieving a responsible, logical, gradual, practical and fair transition in the energy sector, and contributing to the reduction of emissions on a large scale. This step comes within the plans to develop and expand ADNOC’s business.” Through this pilot program, the company aims to collect important data on how hydrogen technology works in the field of transportation in its continuous endeavor to develop hydrogen infrastructure in the country.”
Toyota and Al-Futtaim Motors will provide a fleet of hydrogen-powered vehicles. The pilot program will help ADNOC study the use of “ultra-fast” hydrogen fueling technology in transportation projects in support of the Emirates National Hydrogen Strategy, which aims to consolidate the country’s position among the largest hydrogen producers by 2031. ADNOC Distribution will operate the station when It will be completed later this year. A second station at Dubai Golf City will be equipped with a conventional hydrogen fueling system.
It is noteworthy that ADNOC had allocated 55 billion dirhams ($15 billion) to develop and accelerate low-carbon solutions and invest in new energies and emissions reduction technologies to reduce the carbon intensity of its operations by 25% by 2030 to enable its ambition to achieve climate neutrality by 2050.

Integration of New Quebecers in the Job Market: Insights from the Quebec Institute of Statistics
2023-07-18 19:42:13
New Quebecers integrate more easily into the job market than new Ontarians, reveal Tuesday the most recent data from the Quebec Institute of Statistics (ISQ).
About 74% of “people from visible minorities in Quebec” of working age have a job, compared to only 70% in Ontario.
“In Quebec, the employment rate of black people (78.8%), that of Arab people (70.8%) and that of Latin American people (76.2%) are higher than those observed in Ontario (respectively 68.8%, 57.4% and 71.4%)”, specifies the ISQ report.
The reverse, however, occurs for people of Asian descent. The latter are more integrated into the labor market in Ontario than in Quebec, although in a lower proportion.
If being a woman and being a visible minority in Quebec is still detrimental to obtaining a job today, this disadvantage tends to diminish over the years. The gap between the employment rate of women from visible minorities and that of other women has gone from around 10% in 2016 to around 7% in 2021, still according to the ISQ.
Well-detailed reasons explain these delays, underline the authors of the report. The lack of work experience in Quebec, the difficulty of transferring one’s skills to a new country, a limited knowledge of French and the absence of a professional network are all handicaps that hinder the integration of new Quebecers. “Discrimination” also comes into play to understand these gaps, “especially for women”, it is specified.
These pitfalls tend to fade among second-generation immigrants. “Among non-immigrants,” continues the ISQ, “the employment rate of people from visible minorities (78%) is similar to that of those who are not from visible minorities (77%). »
Salary differences
The salary difference remains significant between visible minorities and the rest of the Quebec population, despite quantified progress in recent years. While the average annual income for these was $56,350 in 2019, it was around $43,840 for those. This is a relative difference of around 22%.
In 2019, the pay gap climbed to 25%.
The Latin American population is the one who suffers the most from this financial delay. The difference in average annual income between them and the rest of the population hovers between 26% and 32%, according to 2021 data.
Nevertheless, visible minorities occupy a more important place in the job market in Quebec each year. Their proportion has doubled in 20 years. It has increased from regarding 7% in 2001 to nearly 18% in 2021.
