Windows 11 added the ability to display seconds on the clock on the taskbar. The function became available following the release of update KB5028185. An additional scale is activated through the taskbar settings. At the same time, the description of the function specifies that following turning it on, the PC will begin to consume more energy. Microsoft tried to add seconds to the clock on the taskbar back in 2003 with Windows XP. However, during testing, it turned out that this setting significantly reduces the performance of computers, and it was decided to abandon it. Seconds might also be enabled in Windows 10, but this required editing registry entries.
