2024 is shaping up to be quite interesting on the Xbox side, with several important titles planned exclusively for Microsoft’s console for launch.
With its 23 development studios full of talent, it’s time for Xbox to fill out its catalog for the generation of the hour. After all, the Series X and S consoles were released in 2020, and the exclusives haven’t always been strong (consider Starfieldwhich disappointed more than one).
We have therefore grouped together some promising titles which are planned exclusively for Xbox consoles in 2024. We must emphasize, when we talk about exclusivity here, it is for consoles and launches only, because the following titles will all be released on PC as well and could, one day, be released on PS5. In other words, “exclusivity” means “not on PS5 at launch” in this context.
Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2
Probably one of the most promising titles for Xbox. Ninja Theory, now owned by Xbox Game Studios, hit it big in 2017 with Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice. The sequel looks just as powerful.
Avowed
Avowed is an action RPG planned “at some point” in 2024. The game is designed by Obsidian, to whom we owe South Park: The Stick of Truth, The Outer Worlds, Pillars of Eternity et Fallout: New Vegas. These are all titles generally loved by gamers, so expectations for Avowed are high.
Ark 2
The survival game Ark 2 is due to be released towards the end of 2024, but this date could (again) be pushed back. The two official extracts of the game, revealed in 2020 and 2022, did not have gameplay so we wonder if the project is ready for a launch in 2024. One thing is certain, however: the community Ark really looking forward to it.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl
The story behind the development of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 is not easy. The horror FPS was supposed to be released in 2012 (yes, 2012!) before being canceled, then in 2022. Development also faced difficulties due to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, since studio GSC Game World is Ukrainian. At Gamescom 2023, we learned that the game would finally be released in early 2024.
The studio continues to keep its fans on the lookout via Discord, and with a range of beautiful trailers. We can’t wait to get our hands on this title!
Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024
Well, we probably don’t need to explain to you what it is, Microsoft Flight Simulator, but we are happy to remind you that a 2024 edition is coming. The game will be exclusive to Xbox on the console side, but will also be released on PC. It’s perhaps more of a “PC” game, especially with the right machine, but we might try it on Xbox if it ends up on Game Pass.
Replaced
Replaced was postponed several times, and the Sad Cat studio had to admit that the development of the game is not always simple. The good news is that the first glimpses of 2.5D platforming are promising!
33 Immortals
Montreal studio Thunder Lotus never fails, so the game 33 Immortals certainly gets our attention. A roguelike cooperative game for 33 players, it’s OUI!
There are plenty of other games with planned launches exclusively on Xbox, including Everwild, Fable, Perfect Dark, The Outer Worlds 2, State of Decay et South of Midnight. However, the release dates have not yet been announced. And perhaps that’s just as well; games are sometimes announced a little too early and then postponed. We’ll let the developers do their job, and we’ll be there when their games are ready!
