An action-packed week 13 of the 2023 NFL season has only a couple games remaining, but the picture at the top of the draft board is becoming clearer.

Two 10-loss teams are vying to knock the Chicago Bears off their perch as the projected owners of the #1 overall pick in the 2024 draft (courtesy of the 1-11 Carolina Panthers). Five four-win teams are situated between picks four and eight, while two NFC South teams have entered the top 10 in the final full month of the regular season.

Commanders, Jets slumping; do Cardinals have momentum?

One of the surprises of week 13 took place in Pittsburghwhere the Cardinals touched down at Acrisure Stadium and overcame a pair of weather delays to upset the Steelers24-10. The win represents a step forward for Arizona‘s rebuild — and the franchise still remains in position to land a top-three pick. Their upcoming slate of games after next week’s bye includes matchups against the San Francisco 49ers and the Philadelphia Eagles.

The Patriots have scored 14 points in their past three games and arguably hit a new low on Sunday. New England lost at home to the Los Angeles Chargersshut out 6-0 by the team sporting the NFL‘s worst pass defense. The Pats need a long-term replacement for Tom Brady in the worst way — and they’re in position to secure one courtesy of a top-two selection.

The Commanders and Jets are both on losing streaks of at least four games. Washington lost to Miami 45-15 on Sunday as it shows a worsening ability to protect quarterback Sam Howellwhile neither Tim Boyle nor Trevor Siemian could help New York overcome the Atlanta Falcons in a 13-8 defensive struggle.

The two teams directly behind Atlanta in the NFC Souththe Saints and the Buccaneersround out the current top 10 — perhaps highlighting how weak that division really is. New Orleans and Tampa Bay are both just a game behind the Falconsand one could yet rally to win the division to secure a home playoff game.
