2024 Presidential Elections: National Elections Authority’s Nomination Process and Voting Dates

The National Elections Authority continues to receive nomination papers for the 2024 presidential elections, which began yesterday, Thursday, and continues until October 14, as the Authority receives candidates or their agents daily, even on official holidays, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., except for the last day.

The nomination application forms are withdrawn for signature, inside a large hall at the Authority’s headquarters, which has been equipped with state-of-the-art equipment.

The candidate or his representative is scheduled to submit a request to the specialized medical councils in Nasr City to sign a medical examination for those wishing to run in one of the specialized hospitals for that purpose, which is either the Nasser Institute Hospital, the Sheikh Zayed Specialized Hospital, or the Administrative Capital Hospital.

For the eighth day in a row, the 217 notarization offices of the Real Estate Registry Authority, which are designated for documenting the powers of attorney of citizens supporting candidates in the presidential elections, continue their work.

It is noteworthy that the National Elections Authority has set October 16 and 17 to announce and publish the initial list of candidates’ names and prepare the recommenders or supporters for each of them, in the Official Gazette, and has set November 9 to announce the final list of candidates and their electoral symbols and publish them in the Official Gazette, provided that electoral propaganda begins on the 9th. November.

The authority set 3 days for Egyptians abroad to vote, with voting starting from nine in the morning until nine in the evening, each country’s time, on December 1, 2, and 3.

Three days were set for Egyptians to vote at home, namely December 10, 11, and 12, and December 13 was set for the end of the counting process and sending the records to the general committees on all issues related to the voting process.

The authority set December 18 to announce the results in the first round in the Official Gazette.

Runoff elections for Egyptians abroad will be held on January 5, 6, and 7. The electoral campaign will stop and the second propaganda silence period will begin on January 7.

Run-off elections for Egyptians inside Egypt will be held on January 8, 9, and 10. The sorting process will end and records will be sent to the general committees on all issues related to the vote on January 11, and the final result of the elections will be announced and published in the Official Gazette on January 16.
