The young woman who began her studies in Civil Engineering at the Industrial University of Santander, UIS, told her parents that she was writing her degree thesis at 6:30 on Thursday morning.
However, the UIS indicated that Telvia Rendón Peinado was not an active student at that educational center, and in the first semester of 2023 she lost her student status. She confirmed it in an official statement.
The young woman lived in Bucaramanga in student housing, but she was a native of the municipality of Simití, south of Bolívar, where her parents live.
Her mother, Ruth Peinado, said that the last time she spoke with her daughter was on Wednesday night and it was a normal conversation for her.
“I tried to contact Telvia the next day to find out how the support had gone, but the phone went to the mailbox,” said the mother.
After the disappearance, relatives began searching for the university student on social networks, in the place where she lived in Bucaramanga, with friends, on the university campus, without finding an answer to her whereregardings.
“There has never been a situation where my daughter disappeared without any notice. My daughter doesn’t appear, nobody knows anything. I know that she went to university, when there were some riots, some hoods, but the truth is that my daughter does not answer and her cell phone rings off all day long,” her mother expressed during her anguish.
But, late last night (Thursday, February 29), authorities confirmed that she was found dead.
After the search carried out by the authorities, at the Hotel San Rey, located on Carrera 17 and Calle 55 in the La Concordia neighborhood of Bucaramanga, the Police found the lifeless body of Telvia Rendón Peinado.
It was learned that the young university student entered the place at 11:30 at night on Wednesday, February 28, and was found dead the next day when cleaning staff entered the room.
The CTI of the Prosecutor’s Office was in charge of removing the body. Some items were collected at the scene and are being investigated by the authorities. The body was transferred to the Bucaramanga Institute of Legal Medicine and the investigators’ hypothesis was that the young woman made an attempt on her life.
The Secretary of the Interior of Bucaramanga, Colonel (r) Gildardo Rayo Rincón, expressed that he is waiting for the forensic opinion of Legal Medicine.
“We found her in the followingnoon. It will be Legal Medicine that confirms the causes of his death,” said the official.
