The Lexus NX is receiving a comprehensive mid-cycle refresh for the 2027 model year, headlined by a transition to an entirely hybridized powertrain lineup. As part of this update, the non-hybrid NX 350 has been dropped, leaving buyers to choose between the NX 350h regular hybrid and the NX 450h+ plug-in hybrid. 2027 Lexus NX Embraces an All-Hybrid Lineup and Sharper Styling
The compact luxury SUV, which serves as Lexus’s second best-selling model globally behind the RX, has sold approximately 1.9 million units since the original debuted in 2014, according to carscoops.com. Dimensionally, the refreshed vehicle grows slightly in length by 30 mm to 4,690 mm, while maintaining a 2,690 mm wheelbase.
Upgraded Powertrains and Expanded Electric Range
Significant technical upgrades sit beneath the skin, led by Lexus’s sixth-generation hybrid system. The flagship NX 450h+ plug-in hybrid features a newly developed lithium-ion battery with a 30 percent increase in capacity, moving from 18 kWh to 23.0 kWh. This larger battery expands all-electric driving range significantly, reaching up to 62 miles compared to the previous 37 miles. Combined system output varies by region, reaching up to 303 horsepower in Europe and 322 horsepower in Canada, with DC fast charging now coming standard.
The standard NX 350h hybrid adopts a lighter lithium-ion battery design borrowed from the ES 350h, paired with a revised cooling system to boost output. Across the entire lineup, driving dynamics are enhanced by a revised e-Axle assembly, improved drivetrain electronics, and an electronic all-wheel-drive system with enhanced rear motor control for continuous AWD operation. Chassis rigidity has also been increased through front and rear reinforcements, a new floor cross member, and redesigned suspension towers.
Overhauled Cabin With New Technology and Sensory Features
Inside, the 2027 NX receives its most radical cabin redesign yet, drawing heavy inspiration from the new ES sedan. A free-standing 14-inch touchscreen running the latest Lexus Connect software is now standard across all trims, paired with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. The center console features a smaller shifter nub and new physical controls with haptic feedback that blend into the dashboard trim when inactive.
Drivers will also find a smaller steering wheel—reduced in diameter by roughly 0.39 to 0.4 inches—alongside an optimized seating position and new materials such as Forged Bamboo trim made from 55 percent bio-materials. Additionally, Luxury and F Sport trims offer an optional Sensory Concierge
feature. This system uses ambient lighting, climate control, music, and one of three distinct fragrances—Shinmei, Seiyo, or Hanya—to tailor the cabin environment to the occupant’s mood.
Exterior Refinements and Market Availability
On the outside, the NX evolves its Vital x Tech design theme with a sharper front fascia, an updated frameless spindle grille, and revised headlights featuring an integrated dual-line lighting signature. At the rear, the vehicle replaces traditional chrome badging with a light-up “Lexus” badge integrated into the full-width taillights featuring a repeated L-motif. The F Sport trim distinguishes itself further with 20-inch wheels, red brake calipers, and rear-bumper aero.
