20th anniversary of Star Académie: “We have become brothers and sisters” -Marie-Élaine Thibert

For Marie-Élaine Thibert, who had reached the grand final of Star Academy with Wilfred LeBouthiler (elected big winner), there was no question of missing the opportunity to see the whole gang again, whom she considers family.

“I wanted to take part in this project, it was with them that I started,” explains the 40-year-old singer.

“Having them in my life for months, even years, made them brothers and sisters. We lived it all together. Our anxieties, our joys, our laughter. »

This reunion brings the singer back to the time of her stay at the Academy and the intense months that followed her release. “You had to get used to it,” recalls the mother of a ten-year-old girl. I like people, but there were herds coming towards me (laughs). There were adjustments to be made, but I lived it well. I was well surrounded. »

Over the past few years, Marie-Élaine Thibert has multiplied musical projects.

His most recent album, Our historywas released last year and the tribute tour to the work of the late Nicole Martin, Nicole – the songs of a lifetimewhich began last year continues across Quebec until 2024. She finds herself there in the company of eleven artists on stage, including Marie-Michèle Desrosiers and Annie Blanchard, who was from the cuvée of Star Academy in 2005.

The singer of sky is mine also performed two songs at the funeral of singer and actor Jean Lapointe, who died at age 86 on December 17.

“I was in his favorite artists, I like to say that, confides with a smile the one who had sung in duet with Mr. Lapointe on the album The unlikely duos in 2012. I had known him for 10, 12 years. He was a good living. I couldn’t refuse. I had to do this for Jean and his family.”

On May 7 at the Maison symphonique, she will also be at the benefit concert The weather is goodin which 160 singers and 150 musicians will pay tribute to the music of Quebec films and one of their pillars, Stéphane Venne.
