21st Time Convicted Drunk Driver in Abbotsford, BC: The Shocking Story of Roy Heide

Police in Abbotsford, British Columbia, believe they have found the great Canadian champion of drunk driving.

Roy Heide, 66, achieved the sad feat of being convicted a 21st time for drunk driving during the month of December following an accident that occurred in August 2022, the police said in a press release on Friday.

On August 15, 2022, police responded to an accident involving a motorcycle belonging to Roy Heide. On site, patrol officers noted that the passenger of the motorcycle had suffered serious injuries, and the driver fled in front of several witnesses who were able to help the police identify him.

At the time of the accident, Heide was twice the alcohol limit.

The repeat offender, well known to the police, finally pleaded guilty on December 18 to having driven under the influence of alcohol, even though he had no right to be behind the wheel of any vehicle.

“What is incredibly concerning about this conviction is that this is Mr. Heide’s 21st drink-driving conviction, which would be the most drink-driving convictions of anyone received in Canadian history,” the Abbotsford police were alarmed.

The incorrigible driver should normally stay away from the road for a while, having been sentenced to serve almost five years behind bars.
