On Saturday at 3 p.m. Jakob Herrmann started his big adventure in Radstadt. He wants to cover 24,000 meters in altitude on touring skis in 24 hours.

Several dozen fans gathered at the Königslehen lift in Radstadt to witness the launch of the company. At five minutes to three, a relaxed-looking Jakob Herrmann strapped on his skis. During the countdown, the spectators counted down the last ten seconds, and then it started with great cheers.

Many fellow ski mountaineers who had previously taken part in the Erztrophy inwerfenweng also stopped by to join in the excitement.

The 36-year-old fromwerfenwenger wants to beat the previous record for touring skiing over 24 hours. His long-time colleague and friend Kilian Jornet from Spain achieved 23,486 meters in altitude in 2019. In order to achieve more, Herrmann has to complete the 2.5 kilometer long lap with its 713 meters of altitude 33 times.
