According to the Gangwon Provincial Election Commission on the 29th, 336,628 out of 1,336,80 electors in the province participated in the June 1 branch election early voting period, showing a 25.2% early voting rate.
This is 2.94 percentage points higher than the 22.26% early turnout in the 7th local election.
This is the highest turnout among local elections held since the early voting system was fully introduced.
By city and county, Pyeongchang-gun had the highest rate with 33.77%, and Wonju-si had the lowest with 21.44%.
The highest early voting turnout in the history of the election was 38.42% in the 20th presidential election in March.
