Attacks and thefts against electrical installations are multiplying and constitute a big problem. In a few hours and During the early hours of Saturday, the criminals took the cable from 25 street crossings in Villa Regina.
The number of robberies registered during the first hours of Saturday surprised the authorities of the distributor Edersa, a constant target of attacks against electrical installations in recent years.
“The number of robberies in a single night and in the same location is unprecedented. This situation is really generating the risk of not being able to restore the service, due to market limitations and the lack of some specific materials in the industry. We are already having problems replacing some of the stolen items, such as a certain size of transformers and some types of cables, which our usual suppliers cannot deliver. The service runs a serious risk of not being able to be restored in a short time after some thefts”, informed the General Manager of the company, Raúl Barhen.
The manager added: “we are obliged to let users know that if the thefts continue at such a rate, in the short term we will be in serious trouble to restore supplies.”
Criminal acts against medium and low voltage electrical installations are the order of the day. So much so, that in the last year They attacked more than 120 power and distribution transformers, took around 10,000 meters of low voltage and more than 5,000 of medium voltage, totaling a loss of more than 130,000,000 pesos.
On Saturday morning, criminals affected in Villa Regina the Mitre, Provincial and Belgrano neighborhoods, by stealing cables and connections in streets like Santa Fe, Bernardo Houssay and Mariano Moreno, among others.
“The electrical risk is enormous and these thugs not only threaten the service of many neighbors, they also do so against public safety and people who pass through the street. They produce enormous damage, and in many cases it will happen that we will not be able to restore the service due to a lack of materials”, concluded Barhen.
