25 Water Purifying Plants Suspended in Tamaulipas for Hygiene Violations
Ciudad Victoria,Tamaulipas – Twenty-Five Water Purifying plants in Tamaulipas have been preventively suspended between January and May of 2025 due to failure to comply wiht established hygiene standards for the sale of water.
The State Commission for Protection against Health Risks (Coepris) took this action, with irregularities primarily detected in establishments located in the southern municipalities of the state.
Hygiene Violations Lead to suspensions
Mario Alberto Rebolledo Urcadis, the state commissioner, confirmed the suspensions. He stated that these measures are part of the ongoing health surveillance of water purifying and ice vending businesses.
“Yes, some places have been pointed out where they have had to suspend preventively because they do not have the hygienic conditions; there are about 25 suspensions that have been made, especially in the southern zone,” he explained.
Permanent Surveillance in Place
Coepris emphasizes the importance of continuous monitoring of the bacteriological quality of water in these establishments.
“We have to have a very punctual and permanent surveillance in what is the bacteriological situation of water in those places, and we are in a permanent surveillance process on them,” Urcadis added.
Corrective Actions and Future Sanctions
Businesses that have been suspended are given a short window to rectify the identified irregularities.
While no formal sanctions have been applied yet, Coepris plans to begin implementing them later this year. This new system of sanctions aims to ensure stricter compliance with health standards.
Pro Tip: Always check for certification and recent inspection dates when purchasing purified water to ensure safety.
New Requirements for Water Purification Equipment
Starting this year, Coepris will also require that all equipment used for water purification and sale be protected within the facilities, preventing exposure to public roads and potential contamination risks.
